December 16, 2022

The Millard Oakley Library staff would like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas, and remind everyone that the library, and all Overton County offices, will be closed on Friday, December 23, Saturday, December 24, and Monday, December 26 for the Christmas Holiday.  County offices and the library will also be closed on Monday, January 2,2023, for the New Year holiday.

Story Time will still be this Thursday, December 22, at 10:30.

Winter weather is headed towards Tennessee.  If you have material at home when bad weather hits, you can log into your account from home and renew items.  You can also give us a call and renew your items online.  We will also automatically extend items that are out if the weather turns icy.  Please stay safe!

The library is adding items to our Library of Things.  Did you know you can now check out a sewing machine from the library?  There are also STEAM kits for adults, telescopes, and ukuleles available for loan.  We hope to be adding more items soon, and welcome donations.

There is now an honor shelf in our lobby for puzzles.  You can come in and take a puzzle of your choosing home with you, and bring it back when you are done.  Puzzles range from 300 pieces to over 1,000, and are a perfect way to spend family time on cold winter days.

This week, we are highlighting our STEAM kits. What is a STEAM kit?  These kits incorporate books, games, and activities to help develop interest and learning in science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics.  The library has kits designed for every age, from preschool through adults.  It is a good way to add a little fun to learning.  We have STEAM kits on music, dinosaurs, emotions, letters and numbers, animals, outdoor adventures, and brain games. Come in and see what your library has to offer!
