About Our Staff

Director, Judith Cutright: Her career in library work began in the 1970s, when she worked at her school library. Library work continued for the last 27 years at the Clay County Library in Celina before transferring to the Millard Oakley Public Library in 2022. She has been married for over 39 years, has two children, three grandchildren, and two fur babies. In her spare time she loves to read, garden, scuba dive, crochet, and play with her grandchildren.
Assistant Director, Terri Jordan: Mrs. Jordan has done a fantastic job here at Millard Oakley Public Library for years.  She is the person on staff who has been at the library the longest.  In fact, when asked how long she has worked at the library, Terri is never sure.  What she can recall are some of the high points of the time she has been here.  Among these are the first “Water Day”, during which the local police and fire departments had water fights with the patrons and Terri got soaked by a fire hose.  Other fond memories involve an Elvis impersonator, a baby kangaroo, Astronaut Mike McCulley, karaoke on the square,  and bees in the meeting room.  Terri will often quote one of the library’s youngest staff members, who said, “This is the weirdest job you’ll ever love”.
Cataloger, Brandy Hammock: Mrs. Hammock enjoys getting all the new material ready for our customers.  She will help you in any way she can with your library needs.  She loves to see new patrons come in and getting library cards to start their reading journey.  She has lived in Overton County her whole life, and has two boys and a girl.  When she isn’t working, she is spending time with her family and friends, or looking for new pineapple decor.
Library Clerk, Mary Miller: Mrs. Miller has been with the Millard Oakley Public Library for more than five years.  In those years, Mary has seen many changes at the library.  While not all changes have been successful, most have improved the services to the public.  One of Mary’s favorite parts of her job is helping to get new books out.  All new books get cataloged, then Mary is responsible for covering any new books that need covers.
Interlibrary Loan Specialist, Lisa Nichols: Mrs. Nichols helps our patrons get titles our library does not carry.  Lisa has lived in Tennessee for 17 years, has four grown sons, three grandchildren, and a very spoiled Australian Shepherd/Cattle dog cross.  When she is not working at the library, Lisa enjoys doing outreach with a team from her church at Twinton.  She has been a life-long lover of books, a passion that began in childhood, when she was permitted to carry home as many books as she could manage from the excellent community library where she grew up in Oak Park, MI.

Our Story: Since May 2007

We opened our doors on May 19, 2007, for the first time to the citizens of Overton County.  The Millard Oakley Public Library was made possible by a very generous resident of Overton County, Mr. Millard Oakley and his wife, J.J and public grants. Their love and interest in furthering education and investing in future generations, has resulted in area colleges and municipalities being endowed with both buildings and funds for many projects and programs.  They wanted to invest more in society than they took out.

Our Mission & Vision

The Millard Oakley Public Library exists to serve its community. Its primary function is to select, organize, preserve and make freely available to everyone in its service area, materials that will assist its users in fulfilling their education, informational, cultural, and recreational needs.
