The Millard Oakley Public Library, and all Overton County offices, will be closed on Monday, January 16, 2023.
The Library Board will meet on Tuesday, January 17, at 4:30 in our meeting room.
The Friends of Overton County Library will meet on Thursday, January 19, at 11:30 in our genealogy room.
Story time is every Thursday at 10:30. On January 19, after story time, the meeting room will be open for an hour of “open play”. We will have a variety of toys, Legos, games, and art supplies available for those parents who want to stay with their children and allow them to interact with others.
There will be a home school writing program held on Friday, January 20, beginning at 12:00.
For those who are getting ready to apply for Medicare, there are two programs this month to help you navigate signing up. The first will be Thursday, January 19, at 5:30 p.m. The second program will be Monday, January 23, at 10:00 a.m.
The library has several new audiobooks available, including:
“Dream Town” by David Baldacci, “Inferno” by Dan Brown, “Hold Tight” by Harlan Coben, “Tapestry of Spies” by Stephen Hunter, “City of the Dead” by Jonathan Kellerman, “The Darkest Place” by Phillip Margolin, and “Triple Cross” by James Patterson.
New nonfiction titles include:
“Surrender: 40 Songs, One Story” by Bono, and “Leathercraft: Traditional Handcrafted Leatherwork Skills and Projects” by Nigel Armitage.
New fiction titles include:
“Killstaight Returns” by Johnny D. Boggs, “The Comanche Kid” by James Robert Daniels, “Final Heir” by Faith Hunter, “The Robots of Gotham” by Todd McAulty, “Dark Fae” by Caroline Peckam, and “The Scorekeeper: A Reed & Billie Novel” by Dustin Stevens.
