Millard Oakley Public Library News
July 28, 2023
The Millard Oakley Public Library 2023 Summer Reading Program finished this past week with The Science Guys putting on a show on Wednesday, then a party at Central Park on Thursday. We hope that all our participants enjoyed their summer and all the events here at the library.
The Summer Reading Program would not have been possible without the help of a lot of help.
- The Friends of the Library were especially helpful, paying for the entertainers and providing the hot dogs and buns for our party.
- Ryan Monday and the staff at Casa Nueva provided the food for our taco party.
- Union Bank and Trust provided drinks and watermelon for our end of the summer party.
- Many of the prizes awarded to our readers were provided by Paul David and Grace Roe.
- Ranger Shawn Hughes from Standing Stone State Park donated his time to talk to our readers about the parks.
- The Overton County Sheriff Department allowed two deputies to come and talk to our readers.
- Ollie Otter provided our readers with safety tips.
- Josh Danner painted the mural on the side of the Friends building and involved our summer readers with the grand reveal.
- Dairy Queen, Pizza Hut, and McDonald’s all provided gift certificates for our readers, and Livingston Mayor Curtis Hayes provided free pool passes.
- Thank you to all who supported our programs, and to all who attended!
