Millard Oakley Public Library
27 December 2024

The Library Staff and Friends of the Library would like to thank everyone who came to our Open House on December 23.  There were 1097 people who stopped in to help our library celebrate the holiday season.  Door prizes supplied by 1806 BBQ, Daisy Mae’s, EB Grays, the Emporium, Hill Holler Farms, Livingston Nutrition, Liv’n Country, and the Overton Department Store were given out.  The winner of our 8-foot stocking was McKenna Ditto.  Magician Bruce Amato entertained our guests, and even shared a few magic tricks with the audience.

The Library will be closed on Wednesday, January 1, 2025 so our staff can enjoy the new year.

The Friends of the Library will meet on January 16 at 4:30. This organization has been a tremendous help to the library, and is always looking for additional helping hands.

The Library Board will meet on Tuesday, January 21 at 4:30.

Story Time is every Thursday at 10:30, and our Crafters Club meets on Tuesdays at 9:00.  Please check out our website or Facebook page for a full calendar of events, or stop by the library to pick up a copy.

New books added to our collection recently include “The Secret of Bow Lane:  A Below Stairs Mystery” by Jennifer Ashley, “Easy Money” by Will Cook, “Daughter of Ruins” by Yvette Manessis Corporon, “The Violence” by Delilah S. Dawson, “The Striker” by Ana Huang, “The Witches of El Paso” by Luis Jaramillo, “The Love Elixir of Augusta Stern” by Lynda Cohen Loigman, “The Stars are Dying” by Chloe C. Penaranda, and “Dark Night” by Paige Shelton.

“A New Year is like a blank book, and the pen is in your hands”. Dalai Lama.
