Millard Oakley Public Library News
January 26, 2024
The Millard Oakley Public Library is joining with libraries across the country to celebrate Take Your Child to the Library Day. On Saturday, February 3, 2024, the Millard Oakley Library will have crafts, stories, and prizes for children who come to the library between 10:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m.
Children who are proficient in reading by the end of grade 3 are significantly more likely to graduate high school. Libraries help families build solid foundations of literacy and love of learning by providing access to books, early literacy story times, technology access, and fun, safe spaces to explore and grow.
There are many other events happening at the library in February.
Our Crafters Club meets every Tuesday morning at 9:00. The Book Club will meet on February 6 at 11:00. Story Time is every Thursday at 10:30.
If you ever wanted to learn how to play Bridge, there will be a class on Thursday, February 8 at 1:00. This is a free class and open to the public.
The Friends of the Library will meet on Thursday, February 15 at 4:30. This is a wonderful organization that is always looking for new members. The Friends assist the library with Story Time, purchasing new books, and recently helped the library purchase new tables for our meeting room. Everyone is welcome to be a Friend to our library.
The Library will be closed on Monday, February 19th, for President’s Day.
New additions to our fiction collection include:
“The Curse of Penryth Hall” by Jess Armstrong, “The Evil Men Do” by Ralph Compton, “Unnatural Death” by Patricia Cornwell, “White Peak” by Ronan Frost, “The Kingdom of Sweets” by Erika Johansen, “Sisters Under the Rising Sun” by Heather Morris, “A Stroke of the Pen” by Terry Pratchett, “The Ball at Versailles” by Danielle Steel, and “Binding 13” by Chloe Walsh.
