The Millard Oakley Public Library Summer Reading Program is almost half over. Our young readers have been busy reading, crafting, and making new friends. Special guests this summer have been Barry Mitchell and Friends, as well as Ollie Otter, and assisting us with unveiling our new mural painted by Josh Danner. Next on our calendar is Jason Ward and his guitar on Wednesday, June 14, followed by a deputy from the Sheriff department on June 15. Standing Stone Park Ranger Shawn Hughes on July 12, Bruce Amato the Magician on July 13, and The Science Guys on July 26.
A reminder that our Friends of the Library will have their summer book sale on Friday, June 23 and Saturday, June 24. Please come out and support our Friends, who help support our Summer Readers.
The next meeting of the Library Board will be July 18 at 4:30.
Looking for a cool place to be during hot summer days? The library may be that place for you!
The Crafter’s Club meets every Tuesday at 9:00.
Friends of the Library meet on the third Thursday of each month at 4:30.
We will hold two Medicare meetings, one on June 26 at 10:00, one on June 28 at 5:30.
There are also computers available, free Wi-Fi, puzzles, movies, books, and our Library of Things. You can check out sewing machines, musical instruments, telescopes, and gardening tools. Boating exams can be taken at the library, a notary is available most weekdays, copies are only $0.10 a page, faxes are only $1.00, and we also laminate up to an 8.5” X 11”. Our newest service includes passport photos. You can research your family history, find educational material for your child, or just come in and relax.
“One benefit of summer was that each day we had more light to read by.” Jeannette Walls.
