Millard Oakley Public Library News
 June 2, 2023

The Summer Reading Program at the Millard Oakley Public Library is here!
Our official start date was June 1, and we had approximately 75 people show up for our story time and for our show.  Lunch was provided by Casa Nueva, so if you like Mexican food, please stop in and be sure to let them know how much their delicious donation was appreciated!

Barry Mitchell, Sam the Turtle, and Hyena the Laughing Chicken were a huge hit as well.  Adults and children were laughing, singing, and doing the chicken dance.
Our next performer will be Ollie Otter on June 15, Jason Ward and his guitar on June 21, Standing Stone State Park Ranger Shawn Hughes on July 12, magician Bruce Amato on July 13, and The Science Guys on July 26.
Story time will be every Wednesday and Thursday throughout the summer, so if you are looking for a free, cool place to take the children, the Millard Oakley Public Library may just be the place!

There are plenty of activities for adults as well, including the Crafters Club every Tuesday morning at 9:00, the Friends of the Library meeting on June 15 at 4:30, and the Summer Book Sale June 23 and June 24!  There are new books, DVD’s, puzzles, and STEAM kits for both children and adults.

The Library, and all Overton County offices, will be closed on Monday, June 19.

The lobby, restrooms, and meeting room will be getting a new coat of paint starting on June 26.
We will do our best to stay open, but please note that there may be some detours entering the building.
If you have difficulty breathing, or don’t want to come in during this time, please be sure to stock up on reading material before painting begins.  If you happen to run out of material and can’t come in, please give us a call at 931-823-1888 and we will do our best to accommodate you.
